#pbhd
This little tag has taken on a life of it’s own in the past 5 days.
… And in just a few hours, we will be announcing what it stands for, and quite possibly the most exciting thing in the history of our company. But before we make this big announcement, I want to share a little bit of the heart behind what #pbhd is all about.
You see, this 4 letter hashtag that was added to a few twitter messages this week, has taken on a life of its own and some amazing things have happened. In days following it’s first arrival, we have had more than 20 guesses at what this little phrase means, some were pretty funny… we’ve decided to list a few of our fav’s:
- #pbhd: Peanut Butter – High Def - hmmm… (http://twitpic.com/1cnkqc)
- #pbhd: a collaboration between a pretty boy and a hairy dude.
- #pbhd: Propresenter’s Bigshot Help Desk
- #pbhd: Praise Band HoeDown. - personal favorite!
- #pbhd: Pretty big hairdo or Pale-Blue-Hair-Dye
- #pbhd: Paul Baloche Hot Dance
- #pbhd: Po’ Boy Home Deli
- #pbhd: Peanut Butter Ham Donuts
But I don’t want us to focus on what this Hashtag means right now…. and I don’t want us to think about how sweet the juice is at Orange Thread, or how amazing of a VJ the WorshipVJ is. I don’t want to focus on thinking about Environmental Projection, Quartz compositions, ProPresenter, custom content or any of that right now… For you see #pbhd is for the Church.
it’s always been for the Church (capital “C”).
There’s no doubt that we are humbled and of course excited about the anticipation this little phrase has created, but let’s stop. Let’s reflect and remember why we do what we do.
A few weeks ago, at the Visual Worship Round Table in Nashville, one of the things I wrote down in my notes was this statement. “imagery is the language of the invisible.” That statement has been resonating with me ever since I heard it. We get to worship God every sunday morning in a visual way. Why do you think we have stained glass windows? or gorgeous bouquets of flowers? extravagant architecture and paintings? Art, is how we communicate the unexplainable sometimes.
Think about that for a moment… because I want this to be one of the things we rest on for a little while this morning as a community… We are called to provide the imagery of “The” Invisible often times…. Right?
I mean… we’re called to provide visuals that enhance the glory and presence of God.
And so as we get ready to announce this #pbhd thing, I don’t want us focused on the “big” announcement, or the next innovative thing… I want to focus on the cross this morning.
Paul writes in 1 Corinthians, “Undoubtedly there are all sorts of languages in the world, yet none of them is without meaning. If then I do not grasp the meaning of what someone is saying, I am a foreigner to the speaker, and he is a foreigner to me. So it is with you. Since you are eager to have spiritual gifts, try to excel in gifts that build up the church.”
So, as we get ready to make an annoncement shortly… Remember that God has given you a gift in order to build up the Church. He’s given me a gift in hopes of building up our local communities. He has given us a language that allows people to understand the invisible, and to connect with “The” invisible… are you following what I’m saying here?
I don’t want today to be about Orange Thread Media, or worshipVJ or Visual Worshiper or any of the partners in this project for that matter. .
I don’t want today to be about #pbhd.
I would love it if today isn’t about an exciting announcement…
I really don’t want this day to be about anything that takes away from the Glory of GOD!
I want today to be about Jesus.
…hopefully our announcement will allow people to see Him in a more visable light.
in every effort Lord, i want to glorify YOU,
- Luke McElroy

Love the heart of this post, Luke! And you bring to light a fine line we all walk. Self promotion versus God promotion. But, I pray that with our hearts in the right place we can truly glorify God in everything that we do as a Church. Thanks for starting today off on the right foot!
I can’t wait to see how God moves through all of this. It was awesome meeting all of you guys at VWRT in Nashvegas. I’m honored to be on the outside edge of such an awesome movement within (and for) the Church.
Praying for y’all & waiting with anticipation!
