The Future of Visual Content.

So now that triple wide video walls have started becoming more common place, the question of content now begins to present itself as the next challenge. A few online distributors have started releasing small packages of really great content. But the supply is still very limited. Most people who are experimenting with wide format content have been doing so on what seems like several little individually deserted islands.

Questions of workflow and codec and resolution and software and playback and content production and end file size have been questions most of us have had to experiment with on a personal level. This quest has lead some of us to gather on twitter and occasionally in person over a burrito or plate of BBQ somewhere. (Just to let all of my vegetarian friends know, no animals were hurt in the making the BBQ sauce.) This specialized content work flow have been part of the Orange Thread Media team as long as I have know them.

Quartz Week: THIS WEEK!

You know how discovery does this huge thing called Shark Week… and everyone seems to watch a whole lot more TV that week because its just outright AWESOME?!? well… this will probably be nothing like that… However, that is where we got the inspiration.

So just imagine that there were lots of pictures of sharks, but instead it’s quartz! (ok, just having a little fun).

Triple-Wide Showcase: LHBC Student Camps

This summer, I had the opportunity to be on the creative media team at Long Hollow Baptist Church in Hendersonville, TN. Most importantly, I was able to help build the Triple-Wide LCD TV wall for their series of student camps, which took place at Horn’s Creek Resort in Ocoee, TN. That’s right- nearly 30 miles till the nearest gas station, and we had a killer Triple-Wide setup that was practically in the middle of the woods!!!

Our content was provided by Orange Thread Media (of course…), including several Triple-Wide clips from the Playback Drive. Take a look below! (and if you want to learn more about our video rig setup, read on!)

GMA Immerse Conference

I was honored to be a part of the Immerse Conference a few weeks ago. Immerse if a conference put on by the Gospel Music Association (known as GMA around nashville), which is the organization that coordinates a lot of events and happenings for Christian music. They are also the team of people who pull off the Dove Awards each year. So needless to say, I was absolutely honored to be included [Read more →]

Belmont’s Summer Orientation Video

A few months ago our team got a chance to work with Belmont University again in producing their summer orientation intro video. It’s a video that we’ve done a few time before so we knew how the content needed to be structured, and that gave us the freedom of being able to really think creatively in the way we shot it.

So, we decided to use the Canon 7D (two of them actually). It really allowed us to get some fantastic depth of field and make the whole video feel a lot more creative and clean. For those of you who don’t know the Belmont culture very well, Creativity is one of the more obviously characteristics of that community.

NEW CONTENT: Sunbeam 3

Well, it’s that time again where we get to put a little bit of a spotlight on some of the content that we’ve got coming down the pipeline. This one is called Sunbeam 3… which for those of you who are pretty sharp and on your toes, means that we have at least Sunbeams 1 and 2… (you’re so right!)

This idea came from our team talking about how there are so many cheesy sunbeam or moving “sunbeam” like graphics available and no one has tried to do it with great looking texture, color, motion [Read more →]
